Being a sport photographer at least has those merrits. A journalist covering an event for an article may not even get their work published, unless they're a staff writer. But being paid on a scale like that is, I think, close to traditional papers in a sense that popular writers get paid more. An article that attracts a million hits vs one that get a hundred echos of the popularity contests of most the journalists in traditional media outlets.

Oh, and if you ever get tix to a game in Portland, hook up a mate. I could be your assistant or something and hand you batteries or the like. :)

I was told about several newspapers who are changing how writers get paid, rather than per article it's per website hit on theor story. Could be good for some, could be REALLY bad for others.

Everyones a journalist these days anyways, my degree doesnt mean shit anymore other than the fact that i get a fancy press badge at NCAA games and get better seats than most.
